Summary
AnotherSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueDLC character has been leaked, and this time it’s the infamous Slade “Deathstroke” Wilson. Rocksteady announced that it was working on a new game set in its acclaimedBatman: Arkhamuniverse back in 2020 withSuicide Squad, a team-centric spin-off focused on the titular Task Force X as they hunt down the mind-controlled members of the Justice League in an open-world version of Metropolis. After being hit with two separate delays, Rocksteady is starting to unveil new information aboutSuicide Squad’s characters and gameplay in the build-up to its current release date of July 17, 2025.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s base roster of playable characters already contains some of the most popular supporting villains in the DC Universe, with Harley Quinn returning from her role in theBatman: Arkhamgames alongside a revamped version of Deadshot, the wise-cracking Captain Boomerang, and the monstrous King Shark. Earlier this month, a notable dataminer by the handle of mmmmmmmmiller started sharing data acquired duringthe recentSuicide Squadclosed alpha testthat may reveal some of the post-launch DLC characters Rocksteady plans to add to the game, with the first reportedly being Batman’s ferocious enemy Killer Croc.
A few days ago, mmmmmmmmiller posted a series of emojis hinting at the remainingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueDLC characters, as reported byTheGamer. One of these emojis was a green water pistol, which left fans speculating about which character it could represent. Eventually, mmmmmmmmillerrevealed that it was Deathstroke by posting an image of the super-powered mercenary’s new design. Said image has since been taken down, but it has been described as resembling Deathstroke’s costume from the previousBatman: Arkhamgames in a more comic-accurate orange-and-blue color scheme.
While he has primarily been portrayed as an enemy of the Teen Titans, Slade Wilson has battled a wide range of other famous DC superheroes across comics, games, and other media, including Batman himselfin two of theBatman: Arkhamtitles. Deathstroke famously tangled with the Dark Knight during a particularly memorable boss fight in the WB Montreal-developed prequelBatman: Arkham Origins, before being approached by Amanda Waller to join Task Force X during that game’s post-credits scene. This plot thread would remain unresolved in 2015’sBatman: Arkham Knight, where Deathstroke was instead shown leading a militia squad under the employ of Scarecrow and the titular Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady may be circling back toBatman: Arkham Origins’ Deathstroke-related cliffhanger forSuicide Squad’s post-launch DLCif mmmmmmmmiller’s claims are to go by. Aside from Deathstroke and Killer Croc, players are trying to guess who the other emojis in mmmmmmmmiller’s leak are, with some popular guesses including Killer Frost, Katana, futureMortal Kombat 1guest fighter Peacemaker, and even the currently-deceased Joker. All of these leaks and rumors remain unverified, so players will have to wait and see just what Rocksteady has planned forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justiceafter it launches in February.
