This guide will give players useful tips that will help them get to the top of the flagpole inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder. Every course is designed differently, which means gamers will have to analyze the level’s surroundings as well as the available characters, Badges, and Power-Ups that they have at their disposal.
How to Reach the Top of the Flagpole
As is standard for all 2D Mario platformers, gamers have to touch the flagpole to finish the course and move on to the next level;Super Mario Bros. Wonderis no different. However, in order to trulycomplete a course inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, players actually have to reach the very top of the flagpole.
There is a golden sphere at the top of the flagpole, and gamers must get to it. If they do this, the word “Wonderful” will appear on the screen with a golden flag next to it.
Players can check if they’ve reached the top of the flagpole on a certain course by opening the map and verifying if the golden flag appears underneath its difficulty rating.
Tips to Easily Get to the Top of the Flagpole
Although there are flagpole tops that are pretty easy to reach, there are others that might require a specific action badge or a couple of tricks. Here are a few tips that will certainly help gamers reach the top of the flagpole to avoid redos:
Use the Environment
Oftentimes, a level will have a platform or a special environmental factor that’s been placed right before a flagpole in order to help players reach the top.
For example, when players reach the finish line inHere Come the Hoppos, there will be a Hoppo in a hole in the ground, and they can jump on it in order to gain altitude and reach the top of the flagpole. Players will also encounter yellow barrels, bouncy platforms, green pipes, and several other environmental objects that are purposely placed near the flagpole. So, gamers should always keep an eye on their surroundings and analyze them before they attempt to make it to the top.
Sprint + Midair Spin
The Midair Spin is a classic Mario move, and it’s quite helpful in staying afloat for just a little bit longer. It may not seem like much, but it can definitely make a difference in certain situations, especially when trying to get to the top of a flagpole.
Players can spin inSuper Mario Bros. Wonderby pressing R/ZR/SR or shaking the controller. If they do this while jumping, they’ll perform a Midair Spin. To make the most of it, gamers should start by sprinting, in order to gain some speed, and then when they’re up in the air, they can perform a spin to prevent their character from falling for just a few extra milliseconds. Here is how it works in action:
Even though gamers might have a great elevated area that allows them to gain speed in order to attempt their jump onto the flagpole top, sometimes it’s just not quite enough. It’s in these situations that the Midair Spin really comes in handy.
Best Characters
In previous Mario games, each character would have their own unique set of movements, and they would all differ greatly. InSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, most characters move around exactly the same way and don’t have any special advantages, except for Yoshis.
Yoshis can’t use Power-Ups, but they have the unique ability toFlutter Jump.If players hold down the Jump button while controlling Yoshi, they will actually be able to float for a short amount of time, allowing them to stay in the air for a bit longer - this is a great way to reach the top of challenging flagpoles.
Best Badges
There are quite a fewaction and expert Badgesthat will help players jump farther or higher, and these can be helpful in tricky situations that would otherwise make it impossible to reach the flagpole top. Here are the Badges worth trying out:
