Sonic the Hedgehog 2is part comedy, part kids' movie. There are jokes to be enjoyed by all. However, the humor falls more in line with the original, which focused on the child content more. For example, there are a lot of fart jokes courtesy ofthe Blue Blurhimself, which may cause a lot of adults in the audience to groan.

As crass and simple-minded as some of the jokes inSonic the Hedgehog 2can be though, there are also some great lines that fans, both young and old, won’t forget in a hurry. For those who enjoy a good one-liner, these are the best quotes fromSonic the Hedgehog 2.
8“My Only Friend Is A Rock I Named Stone”
This is one of the first linesDr. Robotnik saysinSonic the Hedgehog 2. He is chronicling his time on the mushroom planet which doesn’t seem to be going well. He has no one to talk to except a rock he found, which he names Stone.
This joke is funny on two levels. One, naming a rock “Stone” is incredibly lazy. It’s like naming a pet cat “Kitty.” They are redundant names. Stone is also the name of Dr. Robotnik’s subordinate, which is where the other joke comes into play.
7“I Don’t Know If You’re Aware Of This, But Rachel Doesn’t Like You At All”
Randall is one of the new human characters in this movie. He is the fiancé of Rachel, who is Tom’s sister-in-law. Randall says this line to Tom when they first meet up in Hawaii. It’s a call back to the first movie, wherein Rachel is trying to convince her sister, Maddie, to leave Tom.
Rachel is more convinced that Tom is troublesome after meeting Sonic, an alien, who causes her nothing but trouble. Tom is the least of her problems inSonic the Hedgehog 2, however, as she eventually finds out that her wedding is a sham. This prompts Rachel to go into a hilarious raging rampage.
6“Make Sure To Get Your Shots, Eggman”
In the movie’s first chase scene, Dr. Robotnik jumps on the police car with Tails and Sonic. He proceeds to bark as if he were a rabid dog. The duo eventually gets him off the car, which prompts Sonic to yell this line.

There doesn’t seem to be a reason why Dr. Robotnik would do this other thanJim Carreymaking something up on the spot to be funny. Maybe all of those mushroom lattes he made on the mushroom planet made him even more touched in the head?
5“Oh…They Are Stairs”
It should be obvious to any viewer ofSonic the Hedgehog 2that Dr. Robotnik is going to betray Knuckles at some point in the movie. AfterSonic and Tailsget away the first time, it seems like Dr. Robotnik is displeased enough to send his drones after Knuckles.
Sensing danger, Knuckles begins to yell poetically about he is going to punish Dr. Robotnik for his betrayal. Knuckles then interrupts himself when he realizes the drones were making stairs for him to climb. It is a great misdirect.
4“If This Is The Same Knuckles, We Are Screwed”
Wade happens to know a guy they used to call Knuckles in high school. Apparently, it was because this kid could shove his whole fist in his mouth. The idea that Wade thinks Sonic is afraid of a human is funny on its own but it is also funny that Wade is afraid of a high schooler.
Wade has no idea what happened to his Knuckles after high school. It is fair to assume that he maybe thinks his high school bully evolved into some sort of mutant. That would be a wild turn forSonic the Hedgehog 2,if Knuckles wasa transformed human.
3“Dot Dot Dot”
One of the most bizarre things aboutSonic the Hedgehog 2is Knuckles’ ability to read and speak English. It was a question left on the floor in the first movie regarding Sonic too.

This line comes up when Knuckles is reading a text between Sonic and Tom at the Mean Bean with Stone and Dr. Robotnik. Knuckles says “dot dot dot” at least a dozen times or more which starts to vex the two villains. Viewers know that Sonic isn’t typing the dots out every time but he doesn’t. Poor Knuckles is not accustomed to phone tech.
2“Earth People Are Very Welcoming And Love Taking In Strangers”
This line from Sonic is one of themost meta momentsinSonic the Hedgehog 2. He tells this to Tails to convince him that all Earthlings are open like Tom. It’s funny because that is not true in Sonic’s universe or in reality. It also begs the question, what would a human realistically do with an alien like Sonic?
Would they befriend it? Kill it? Call the cops? The latter two options seem most likely. However, in other films, which is where the meta-commentary comes into play, people fall over themselves to help aliens like inE.T.These movies are aimed at kids after all.
1“Your Fast Ball Will Be Dishonored”
Knuckles has one of the best closing lines in this movie. When they areall playing baseball, he tells Tails about dishonoring his pitch. Who says that? Knuckles truly is the MVP of this movie because of lines like that.
Knuckles really is the biggest reason to buy a ticket toSonic the Hedgehog 2even though he isn’t in it as much as some fans may have hoped. However, everything that comes out of his lips is pure gold. Choosing Idris Elba for this role was an inspired choice on the casting department’s part.
