Once Humanis a game with many different gameplay features. At heart, asurvival game, it has an impressive horror setting and a fairly unique main story arc. One of the additional features the game has, is a pet capture mechanic, allowing players to catch “deviants” that can be put to work in some way.
There are three types of deviants a player can catch in thissurvival shooter. These are combat deviants (helping the player in combat), crafting deviants (giving crafting bonuses), and territory deviants. Territory deviants act within the player’s territory to bring specific benefits and bonuses. Although they need to be put into an isolated securement unit first, and will only become active once their power has recharged.
7Extradimensional Cat
Helps The Player Have A Restful Sleep
TheExtradimensional Catis a surprisingly useful territory deviant inOnce Human, as it has a hidden role that is not apparent from the in-game description. Once theExtradimensional Cathas been placed into an isolated securement unit, it becomes active. At this stage, whenever the player sleeps, the cat will cuddle up to them, boosting the rate at which they gain health and sanity.
The hidden utility of this deviant is the fact that it can help with weight gain during sleep. Sleeping and eating high-protein food are the two ways to gain weight in the game, and the cat increases the amount of weight gained during sleep. This deviant can be captured very easily at the Tall Grass Inn settlement.
6Chefosaurus Rex
A Cook’s Assistant
Chefosaurus Rex, once placed into an isolated securement unit, begins working space-wide. It reduces the ingredient cost for recipes and also speeds up how quickly dishes are cooked. For players who are heaving into farming inOnce Human, this deviant makes sure their crops are being used efficiently.
There are two ways to get Chefosaurus Rex. The first is through a quest at Sunbury Middle School, in the Broken Delta region of the map. The second is by completing Securement Silo PHI, where it can spawn after the final boss fight randomly.
5Logging Beaver
Gathers Wood Automatically
TheLogging Beaverhas two roles in the game, both of which take place within a player’s territory. First of all, once it has been placed in an isolated securement unit and activated, it will begin to gather wood from within the player’s territory range.
The second use for theLogging Beaveris to man the Automated Logging Platform that can be unlocked via a memetic. This gathers even more wood. This deviant is quite easy to get, as it spawns near water, generally on a dock of some sort. Simply check all the settlements with a dock now and then, until the beaver has been captured.
4The Digby Boy
Gathers Ore Automatically
TheDigby Boyworks in a similar way to the Logging Beaver, although this deviant automatically collects ore. It will only harvest ore that is actually available somewhere within the player’s territory. However, it is also used to man the Automated Mining Platform, which is much more useful.
This is one of the easiest deviants to get inOnce Human, most players will have a few multiple copies simply from mining ore manually, as there is a chance to getThe Digby Boyon the final pickaxe swing when mining.
3Paper Doll
Cleans Up And Finds Materials
ThePaper Dollis an interesting deviant inOnce Human. At first glance, it seems pretty lackluster. It isn’t until a player places this deviant in an isolated securement unit and lets it run for a while that its benefit becomes apparent.
The Paper Doll floats around the player’s base, with a sweeping animation as if it is cleaning. What happens then, is that the deviant has a chance of “finding” random materials. These materials can then be collected by the player by interacting with the securement unit.
2Rain Man
Keeps Crops Watered
The Rain Main deviant is one that crop farmers will likely run multiple copies of. It does one very useful thing. Each time theRain Manactivates after it has recharged energy, it picks a currently growing crop and makes sure it has enough water. If it doesn’t, the Rain Man deviant stands next to the crop and a small rain cloud appears above the planter, watering the plant.
Getting multiple copies of Rain Man is really easy, as every time the player kills one of the Rainfall Reaper elite enemies anywhere on the map, it has a chance of spawning a Rain Man deviant to be captured.
1Electric Eel
Boosting Base Power Output
TheElectric Eelis one of the most useful territory deviants inOnce Human. This is another deviant that many players will run multiple copies of. It does one thing, but a useful thing; it boosts the power output of a single power generator such as a solar panel or 3Hydraulic Generator.
Finding anElectric Eelis very easy. This deviant can be caught fishing. There is a random chance when landing a fish that it actually turns out to be an Electric Eel. It then simply needs to be put into an isolated securement unit for it to start giving its power output bonus.
