The Boys and Invincible Are Banned In Singapore

In June 2022The BoysandInvinciblewerepulled from the Amazon Prime TVapp in Singapore. This happened just days before the third season ofThe Boyswas set to premiere. In a bizarre set of circumstances, the earlier seasons were still accessible in the browser for viewers in the country for a limited time before also disappearing from there. Now both shows can only be viewed by employing a VPN to location cheat to another Amazon Prime site. In another interesting twist, the animated spinoff fromThe Boys, The Boys Presents: Diabolicalis still available.

For those unfamiliar with the two shows, both feature plenty of blood, guts, and R-rated subjects.The Boysstars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Anthony Starr, and Erin Moriarty in a story that takes place in a world where superheroes are not only real but prone to abusing their power. On one side is a group called the Seven,put together by Vought Internationalwhich monetizes the so-called Supes. On the other side is the team of vigilantes The Boys who are looking to bring down the corporation and its corrupt super team.

The animated showInvinciblefollows 17-year-old Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun) as he begins to develop superpowers shortly after his seventeenth birthday. His father, Nolan (J.K Simmons) is the planet’s strongest superhero Omni-Man and is actually an alien from the planet Viltrum. His secret identity is as a wealthy travel writer, and he is married to realtor Debbie (Sandra Oh) whostruggles with her family’s double lives. Unbeknownst to the world at large, Omni-Man is actually on Earth with the intention of eventually conquering the planet and has killed the entire team of superheroes known as the Guardians of the Globe.

Both shows feature graphic and extreme depictions of violence, morally questionable topics, and rallying against the inherent power structures in place. Singapore has extremely strict censorship laws, any references to homosexuality of any kind are strictly prohibited, general pornography is also banned as is media that is seen to be anti-Islam.

While the censorship has relaxed somewhatover the years, any reference to homosexuality is still forbidden and the government still plays a heavy role in deciding what media is and isn’t acceptable. While no official reasoning has been stated for the removal of the two television shows, it is almost certainly down to them both featuring vulgarity, violence, and sexual content.

When Is The Boys Returning On Amazon Prime?

Season three ofThe Boyswrapped up in July 2022 and left a lot of questions unanswered.Who lived? Who died?Can the show top the exploding penis of season three? Well, according to a tweet from Stephan Fleet, the show’s VFX supervisor, while filming for the upcoming fourth season, he saw the most disgusting thing he has ever seen working on television.

While there’s no concretedate set for season four of the showreturning to Amazon Prime, it seems likely it will be in the summer of 2023. Production began in August 2022, and all previous seasons have premiered between July and September so it’s looking likely to remain on that track.

When Is Invincible Returning On Amazon Prime?

The animated series has been off the air since the wrap-up of its first season in 2021. It was however renewed for a second and third season. As withThe Boys, there is no concrete release date for the show yet but just a few days ago series creator Robert Kirkman gave an update toColliderwhile discussing his involvement in the upcomingRenfieldfeature film.

According to Kirkman, “It’s going great. I’m seeing full animation now, and we’re getting music and stuff put into it, and it’s coming along really great. And I can’t wait for people to finally see it so that they stop asking me about it.” He also discussed the fact that being so far along in the process hopefully means there will be a shorter gap between the second and third seasons.

While not much is known about the second season, an extremely short teaser trailer has been released that features a meta recap of what exactly takes so long in animation production as well as a few Easter eggs. In one frame a glimpse of a page of a script can be seen that outlines a fight between the Immortal and Mark, whilecreators have confirmedthat in the booth next to Mark and Allen are two versions of villain Angstrom Levy. In the comics, Levy has the ability to travel to different universes and this could spell multiversal futures for the show.
