Stranger Thingscontinues to be Netflix’s most popular attraction as fans have grown attached to the show’s lovable cast of characters over the years. With each new season, the audience finds out more details about the mystery-solving crew as they continue to try and hold back whatever the Upside Down decides to unleash upon Hawkins, Indiana.

Most of the cast started the show at an age similar to trainers in thePokemonseries when they begin their journey. The characters fromStranger Thingswould likely gel well if placed in the world ofPokemon, and matching them to their perfect Pokemon partners isn’t too tough of a task to accomplish.
10Robin + Pikachu
PairingStranger Things’characters with Pokemoncomes down to finding out what are the defining personality traits of each. Despite Robin being beloved amongst fans of the show, she does tend to be a bit stubborn.
Pikachu, as showcasedin thePokemonanime, exhibits this same type of behavior. Both at the end of the day are loyal and willing to help those they care about, and it doesn’t hurt that they also happen to be quite adorable.
9Nancy + Eevee
Over the course ofStranger Things' four seasons, Nancy Wheeler has gone from an intelligent young person to an investigative reporter who knows what she wants. Pairing her with an adorable Pokemon like theNormal-type Eeveeis perfect.
Like Nancy, Eevee is a Pokemon centered on the idea of potential and what can become of something that is invested in. Considering Nancy had a stuffed animal on her bed, it’s clear she appreciates having something soft to cuddle with and keep her company. A job Eevee and/or whatever Nancy decides to evolve it into is capable of fulfilling.
8Steve + Scyther
Steve Harrington is the oldest of the mystery-solving bunch inStranger Things, and with that age comes a natural image of coolness. As the seasons go on the kids come to understand who he is, but that doesn’t make him any less cool. That’s at least the image he likes to portray, and because of that, it feels like Scyther would be his initial Pokemon partner.
This Pokemon has an interesting design and its Bug-typing feels like the offbeat type of choice Steve would make in order to set himself apart. Like Steve, his Scyther would be physically intimidating, but on closer inspection will reveal itself to be loyal, kind, and brave when it matters most.
7Max + Litten
Ever since the events ofseason 3, Max Mayfield has quickly resorted to her introverted tendencies and has only been forced back into highly social interactions due to the emergence ofVecna inStranger Thingsseason 4. When looking at the Pokemon Litten’s Pokedex entry it states"It doesn’t allow its emotions to easily be seen. Earning its trust takes time. It prefers solitude."
All of that seems to fit Max perfectly, which makes the seventh generation Fire-type starting Pokemon a natural partner for the redheaded youngster.
6Lucas + Shinx
Lucas Sinclair has had the hardest transition to high school of the originalStranger Thingscrew thanks in large part to his interest in team sports. It’s hard to deny the chemistry he and Max have, which means that he likely would share similar vibes when selecting his perfectPokemonpartner.

Shinx, an Electric-type canine/feline from the fourth generation of games, is similar enough to Max’s Litten; however, at the same time, the Pokemon has an edginess and cool factor throughout its evolutionary line that someone like Lucas would gravitate to.
5Hopper + Growlithe
Jim Hopper was introduced inStranger Thingsas the grouchy but lovable local Chief of Police, and throughout the series has peeled back his layers to reveal an emotionally invested guardian and caretaker. His grizzled demeanor and reverence for classic action stars make it seem as though he’d enjoy having a pet dog by his side.
In the world ofPokemon, the Fire-type canine Growlithe usually accompanies law enforcement. In the world ofStranger Things, it’s not too far of a stretch to think Hopper would enjoy raising a Growlithe into a powerful and trustworthy Arcanine he could have at his side for the foreseeable future.
4Mike + Charmander
When looking at character arcs inStranger Things,it’s hard to deny how awkward and weird Mike Wheeler’sdevelopment has been. Early on in Netflix’s show, he was Will Byers' loyal best friend and fellowDungeons & Dragonsnerd. As the years have gone on, Mike has become much more stubborn and difficult to deal with. His friends still care for him, but it’s unclear what Mike is exactly searching for, despite being fully capable of accomplishing whatever he sets his mind to.
A Pokemon like Charmander, the Fire-type Kanto region starter, would match Mike’s stubborn energy and provide him with the challenge of raising and training it to reach its max potential. The two would drive each other and provide tangible goals that both need.
3Dustin + Bulbasaur
InStranger Thingsseason 2, audiences learn that Dustin Henderson has taken a liking to a baby Demodog he would name Dart, short for D’Artagnan. Despite how dangerous this thing could become due to its connection to the Demogorgon from the Upside Down, Dustin’s scientific curiosity got the best of him.

When looking for a scientifically fascinating Pokemon, a bit stubborn but ultimately lovable just like Dustin, and something he would cherish the only satiating answer was Bulbasaur. The Grass-type starter Pokemon hailing from the Kanto region has a bulbous plant growing on its back. This alone would distract Dustin for hours as he tried to figure out how the symbiotic biology of such a creature was even possible.
2Will + Sobble
Will Byers is interesting when it comes to finding hisPokemonpartner as he is much more complex than he is given credit for. In some ways, he was the main or co-main character ofStranger Thingsduring the first two and a half seasons.
At points, he presents himself as a quiet and shy introvert, but among friends, he emerges as a beacon of joy and entertainment. Water-types feel like a natural fit, and though Squirtle sounds right, the melancholy frog known as Sobble from the eighth generation of games is too good of a match to pass up.
1Eleven + Abra
The obvious call would be to pair Eleven with Mewtwo, and though they share in the trauma they’ve endured as lab experiments, the Pokemon is too mature and powerful of a creature to pair with an adolescent girl. The Psychic-type Abra on the other hand understands Eleven’s powers, while at the same time sharing hesitancy to get close to people.
Being misunderstood and feeling like an outsider is a common trope among Psychic-types in the world ofPokemon, andStranger Things' Elevenwould likely appreciate having something nearby that can relate to her everyday struggle to just be accepted.
