The Witcher 4is currently in development, set to be the start of a new saga. Fans know little about what this new entry entails or when it might take place in the timeline. That has never stopped fans from speculating, though.
Potential characters appearing in this new game are a hot topic surrounding the nextWitchersaga, with most prominent discussions surrounding its protagonist. Assuming that the newWitcherentry takes place around 100 years after the events ofThe Witcher 3, one has to wonder who players might expect to see from the original cast. Note that the characters cited won’t include those who can optionally die inThe Witcher 3, so people like Lambert or Keira Metz are not eligable here.

The Obvious Choices to Return in The Witcher 4
Ciri– Ciri is perhaps the most obvious choice. Assuming she undergoes a magical procedure to prolong her lifespan,Ciri will likely be alive inThe Witcher 4. Given she’s a trained Witcher and the Lady of Space and Time, it won’t be easy to defeat her.
Geralt– Geralt is another obvious choice, as he not only has a prolonged lifespan and great survivability, he’s also a beloved character. Thus, it would make sense to haveGeralt appear inThe Witcher 4, even briefly. It’d be interesting to see how much the old Witcher has changed throughout the hundred or so years between entries.
Triss– Triss is one of the younger sorceresses inThe Witcherseries, which means she still has a long road ahead. Given her involvement in helping the mages escape Novigrad, as well as the sheer power she possesses, it wouldn’t be farfetched to see her holding a seat of power in Kovir down the line.
Yennefer– Yennefer, though older, is one of themore powerful mages inThe Witcheruniverse. After everything she’s gone through in the book series, Netflix adaptation, and video games, perhaps players will see her taking it easy somewhere quiet in the next installment.
Other Characters That Might Appear in The Witcher 4
Avallac’h–The elves ofThe Witcheruniverse have much longer lifespans than regular humans. Thus, it’s easy to believe that Avallac’h might live the see the beginning of the new saga. Perhaps this appearance could even shed more light on his past relationship with Lara Dorren.
Dudu– Dopplers have similarly long lifespans, so Dudu might be alive years after the events ofThe Witcher 3. Though he might be hard to find in a crowd, he could provide some insights into how people and societies have changed throughout the years.
Eskel– In his journal entry inThe Witcher 3, it’s said that Eskel watched over Kaer Morhen after Vesemir’s death. Given the lifespan of a Witcher, the new protagonist might chance upon him should they ever visit the old Witcher’s keep.
Gaunter O’Dimm– Gaunter O’Dimm knows no lifespan; he is Evil Incarnate and one of the most powerful beings in the known universe. That’s why many want to seeO’Dimm return inThe Witcher 4.
Regis– Vampires are yet another race with much longer lifespans than normal humans, soRegis might still be active inThe Witcher 4, roaming Nilfgaardian territories and masquerading as a human being. His vampiric powers and ability to empathize with others would make him a valuable ally to the next protagonist.
Zoltan Chivay– Among all the races with prolonged lifespans, dwarves arguably have the shortest - only around 250 years. That said, Zoltan might still be alive during the events ofThe Witcher 4. Like Regis, his genuine kindness would make him a valuable companion to whomever becomes the next main character.
