A new mod forThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunthas added a reputation and morality system that CD Projekt Red cut from the game prior to its initial launch. WhileThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntleft plenty of content on the cutting room floor, this mod restores a crucial omission.

DespiteThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntbeing almost a decade old, the game’s modding scene is stronger than it ever has been. This is largely down to the release of an official modding toolkit for the game named REDkit, which gave modders more freedom than ever to create compelling new content forThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The early results of this modding toolkit release have been fantastic. There was even one recentThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntmod that allowed players to use a custom character instead of Geralt, which completely changed the entire gameplay from start to finish. The mod is simply titled “Reputation System,” and can be found onNexus Modsfrom user FreakVIp. It adds a fully realized reputation system to the game, restoring a cut concept from CD Projekt Red’s original game. Geralt is given a reputation level between 1 and 100, with five stages in total: Hated, Disliked, Neutral, Liked, and Respected, which changes depending on players' actions throughout the course ofThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s story. These reputation levels are separate depending on the region, too, so actions in Skellige won’t affect reputation in Nilfgaard, for example.

The game’s economy also adapts depending on the player’s reputation in each hold. Simply put, players who are Hated will buy items for more and sell them for less, and vice versa for those who are respected. This means that thisWitcher 3: Wild Huntmodhas a tangible impact on every moment of the game. There are a few things that actually affect reputation. All quests have an impact, as does completing monster hunts and winning horse races. Naturally, stealing and performing offensive moves also affects reputation, so players have to be careful at all times while using this mod.

There are a fewWitcherprojects in the works at CD Projekt Red at the moment. A remake of the original game is on the way, as well as a full sequel toThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.Geralt’s possible return in The Witcher 4 has been teasedin the past, but nothing is confirmed as to whether the character will actually be part of the upcoming sequel.
