Releasing in February 2022,Total War: Warhammer 3has been out for a good few months now, and fans are beginning to expect new content for the game. Initially, some bugs andissues were found after the launch ofTotal War: Warhammer 3, leading extra content to be pushed back so that the development team at Creative Assembly could work on hotfixes and patches for the game. Now the final entry in theTotal War: Warhammertrilogy appears a lot more stable than it did at launch, and Creative Assembly has revealed the first of what will likely be many DLCs forTotal War: Warhammer 3.
While the firstDLC forTotal War: Warhammer 3was leaked recentlyvia a video where fans noticed four new factions added to the campaign victory conditions screen, Creative Assembly has now officially confirmed what this upcoming DLC will feature and the content it will bring. As expected from the leak, four new factions will be making their way toTotal War: Warhammer 3in the newly revealed Champions of Chaos DLC. As can be expected from the title, each of the four new factions will be dedicated to one of the four Chaos gods.

In a new trailer, the first of the faction leaders has been revealed forTotal War: Warhammer 3. Azazel will lead the Ecstation Legion inTotal War: Warhammer 3and is a character many will be familiar with fromWarhammerlore. A daemon prince of theChaos god Slaanesh, Azazel betrayed humanity back when the Empire was first being founded, making him one of the setting’s most established characters. It hasn’t been revealed yet which other faction leaders will join the game, but fans expect that notable characters dedicated to Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle are bound to make an appearance too.
As well as bringing new Chaos characters and factions for players to take control of, the Champions of Chaos DLC forTotal War: Warhammer 3will also be bringing some major changes to the game, especially to the Chaos factions. A new campaign will be added, alongside new units to make each Chaos god feel different from the other. Moreover, the Warriors of Chaos faction fromTotal War: Warhammer, which essentially acts as the mortal version of theLegions of Chaos faction inTotal War: Warhammer 3, will be getting an overhaul.
The Champions of Chaos DLC forTotal War: Warhammer 3will hopefully freshen up the gameplay of the Chaos factions, something that players have criticized since the first game launched in 2016. The DLC drops on August 23, the same day that the freeImmortal Empires expansion forTotal War: Warhammer 3releases.
