Developer Fatshark is known for itsVermintideseriesofLeft 4 Dead-like co-op games, which task players with fighting off hordes of Skaven or “rat-men” inWarhammer Fantasy’s setting. Fatshark’s games have long been appreciated for the visceral combat that stays true toWarhammer’s brutal world, with a variety of classes and weapons that allow players to engage in their preferred playstyle.Warhammer 40,000: Darktidetakes this tried-and-true gameplay into the 40th millennium, where an outcast band of Rejects operating as agents of the Inquisition must fight through a sprawling hive city against the corrupted forces of the Chaos god Nurgle.

Players recently got a taste oftheDarktidebeta testif they pre-ordered, which led to substantial hype and a positive reception ahead of the game’s official release. Now that the game is finally out, a 1.0.1 launch update has also come around that makes some big changes based on beta feedback. As far as new content, a new zone Habzone HL-19-24 “Throneside” has been added which comes with a new mission, Enclavum Baross. Additionally, two more missions for “The Hourglass” have been introduced, Refinery Delta-17 and Excise Vault Spireside-13. The Commodore’s Vestures has also been opened, which lets players trade Aquilas for cosmetic items that can be used by all characters on the account once purchased.
The update also includes a long list of general improvements, touching on everything from the UI and animations to weapon balance andWarhammer 40,000: Darktide’s performance. Most of these changes are general polish as the game moves into a completed state, such as missing icons being replaced, broken animations being corrected, and mission progress being properly tracked. “Countless unspecified crashes” have reportedly been fixed, so players who encountered stability problems during the beta should hopefully have a much smoother experience this time around.
