There are a wide variety ofdifficulty and accessibility optionsavailable to players inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, ensuring that the dreaded Game Over screen should be a rare sight for most players. However, when up against enemies with instant death moves or Sephiroth’s hard-hitting Heartless Angel attack, there’s a chance that players may find their party incapacitated, at which, point, they’ll need to decide whether they want to retry.
Usually, players will be presented with three options here: Retry from Last Battle, Retry from Checkpoint, or Return to Title Screen; all of which are fairly easy to understand. However, if the battle in which players are beaten is part of a series of battles like the one at the end of Chapter 14,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthpresents players with a poorly worded secondary screen that has the potential to set them back quite a bit if they accidentally choose the wrong option.
Should You Choose Retry from Before Current Battle, Retry from this Battle, or Retry from Before Battle?
If players want to return to the most recent point as possible, they shouldchoose the “Retry from Before Current Battle” option. Upon doing so, they’ll be returned to the beginning of the phase of the battle in which their party was wiped out. “Retry from This Battle” will lead to them returning to the first phase of the battle, while “Retry from Before Battle” will put them at a point before the battle has even started, allowing them tomake changes to their Materiaand equipment if needed. This may all seem fairly straightforward to some players, but given how similar “Retry from Before Current Battle,” “Retry from This Battle,” and “Retry from Before Battle” all are and the fact that choosing the wrong option can cost players almost an hour of their playthrough at certain points in the story, it’s easy to see why some may want to confirm what each option does before making their choice.
