The Putrescent Knight isa glass cannon boss inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Though he is an optional boss, players need to defeat him to reach St. Trina and complete the quest of Thiollier. The Knight is very weak to Holy damage, making the fight a breeze with the right build.
Once killed, the Putrescent Knight drops an item calledRemembrance of Putrescence. This item can be used to obtain either thePutrescence Cleaver, a Greataxe that deals frost damage, orVortex of Putrescence, a powerful sorcery that deals AoE damage.
How to Use Remembrance of Putrescence in Shadow of the Erdtree
Players can use the Remembrance of the Putrescence atthe Roundtable in the Lands Between. Fast travel there, and go to Finger Reader Enia. She can be found hunched over on a bench in the first room to your right when you teleport to the Roundtable.
Talk to her, and select the option to “Receive power from remembrance,” and select Remembrance of Putrescence. Choose either the Putrescence Cleaver or Vortex of Putrescence according to your specific build and needs.
If players want to get both items from the remembrance, they canduplicate their remembrances at Walking Mausoleumsspread across the world.
Putrescence Cleaver
Weapon wielded by the Putrescent Knight. A great cleaver of hardened putrescence affixed to an arch fashioned from human bones. Gains power from the wielder’s arcane attribute.
The Putrescence Cleaver is aGreataxe type weaponinElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. It weights 13.5, and deals 141 Physical, and 42 Magic damage. Additionally, it causes a 55 Frost buildup in enemies that it hits as well.
Its Ash of War,Spinning Guillotine, takes upnine FP, and can befollowed upwith another attack forsix FP. The player jumps up, and slams down into the ground, and starts to spin forward with the follow-up attack. This skill can go on indefinitely until the player stops or their Stamina/FP runs out.

Sorcery used by the Putrescent Knight.
Launches a whirl of putrescent jets that explode shortly after impact and bathe the area in ghostflame.
In an age long past, Death was burned by ghostflame. Even the remains of tainted flesh were given equal treatment in death.
Vortex of Putrescence is aDeath Sorcerythat costs29 FPand takes uptwo Memory slots. The spellcan be charged, and dealsMagic damage, although it doesbuild up Frostas well.The spell fires out a ring of flamethat shrinks inward towards the player. However, the size of the said ring isn’t that big, and the rate of casting is fairly slow, making it impractical most of the time. The only saving grace of the spell is that it can be cast while riding Torrent.
