Though the exact details ofFire and Darknesshaven’t been revealed, fans have some idea what to expect when the DLC drops in August.
WhileGodfallwould arguably face drawbacks being ported to PS4, it could help popularize the game further and allow more players to check out and tae part in this DLC.Perhaps theLightbringerupdate andFire and DarknessDLC can help win over some new fans, too.

Godfall’s Fire Realm
The upcomingGodfallFire and Darknessexpansion packhas been confirmed to open up a new location to players, the Fire Realm. This is one of the five realms ofGodfall,and players will finally be able to explore the location when the DLC launches in August. It has been confirmed that new story missions will bring players to the Fire Realm, as players are tasked with saving the Fire Realm, and gamers will encounter new fire-themed enemies, bosses, and loot.
The first expansion forCounterplay Games’Godfallhas been confirmed to be a separate purchase when it launches on August 10, though its exact price point hasn’t been detailed yet. Luckily, that and other details are likely to be confirmed relatively soon, given the proximity of its release date.
Godfall’s Other Updates
While not intrinsically tied to theFire and Darknessexpansion,Godfallis also going to get a new updatein August withLightbringer.This free update will be available to all players, and it’s set to add new endgame content to the title. With this update, Counterplay Games will be adding the much-requested matchmaking feature, alongside over 40 new loot items.Lightbringeris set to launch on August 10, the same day asFire and Darkness,so players should expect some further news in the coming weeks.
Godfalldidn’t receive the warmest receptionwhen it launched on PS5 in November 2020, but with a host of new content coming for the game in August, it could be a chance to turn the game’s popularity around.Fire and Darknessis the first major expansion for the game, and it’ll bring players to a new location to face off with new enemies. The brief snippet of gameplay from the expansion showed offGodfall’s established gameplay against new enemies and for Gearbox and Counterplay Games, hopefully, left fans wanting more.
Godfallis available now on PS5 and PC, and a PS4 version will be released on June 30, 2025.
