World of Warcraft: Dragonflightis well in swing and features a host of characters, both new and old. One returning character, Nozdormu the Timeless One, is Aspect of the Bronze Dragonflight and the protector of Azeroth’s timeways. He and his bronze dragons seldom worry about mortal affairs, but recently he has increasingly depended on the aid of the players. This ancient dragon has been in the game since not long afterWorld of Warcraftwas released, but it may soon be time to say goodbye to Nozdormu in the coming months.

The Bronze Aspect has always been an aloof and pensive character, his mind often occupied with the events of countless timelines all melding together. He, along with the other four dragon Aspects, was granted hisAspectral power by the Titan keeper Tyrafter helping to bring about the defeat of Galakrond. The power he was given involved having sway over time itself, an ability that was so great, it came with a warning. Nozdormu was shown his own demise, an event in time that would remain inevitable and unmovable.

World of Warcraft May Soon Need A New Bronze Aspect That Isn’t Nozdormu

Players have long wondered when Nozdormu’s twilight would occur, as the dragon himself never hinted when his death would come. What is known, however, is how he will die. InWorld of Warcraft: Cataclysm, players experienced the End Time, a vision of a world where theblack dragon Deathwing the Destroyersucceeded in bringing about the Hour of Twilight, or the end of the world. Nozdormu guided players through the events of that terrible future, saving the timeways from Murozond, a massive silver and black dragon who sounded oddly familiar.

The final battle of End Time involved destroying Murozond, the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight, a twisted sect of former bronze dragons intent on ending the world by collapsing the timeways. After Murozond’s defeat, Nozdormu admitted to players that this was his future, fairly predictable given that the two names are anagrams of each other. The evil Infinite dragon that players had just defeated was indeed the future Nozdormu, his mind twisted and filled with hate, much like what happened toDeathwing before the Sundering. He implores the players that, when the time comes, they must put an end to him.

Nozdormu has always known this to be his tragic end, and inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, he has been plagued by increasingly troubling visions. He appears even more reserved than usual, and after one particular battle with more soldiers from the Infinite Dragonflight, players can see his anxiety brought to bear. In a touching cinematic,Chromie, another bronze dragon, shows her determination to save the Bronze Aspect, refusing to give up. She claims that the timeways offer endless possibilities, and somewhere within there must be a way to save him.

Nozdormu, while expressing gratitude for Chromie’s sentiment, does not seem to believe his descent into madness can be averted. It is possible that reclaiming his Aspectral power or even giving it to another dragon entirely could somehow sway his fate, but if even the mighty Aspect of Time cannot see a way out, perhaps Nozdormu’s sands are truly running out. If so, he would be the fourth out of the five original dragon Aspects to perish, leaving Alexstrasza the Lifebinder as the only truly surviving member of thebrave drakes who defeated Galakrond. Future events will tell if Nozdormu’s End Time can be avoided inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, but for now it seems his inevitable fall is drawing very close.
