Introduced with the launch ofWoWSeason of Discovery,Waylaid Supplies are a new itemthat players must collect and fill to grind reputation with one of two new Faction-based vendors. At first, players could only collect one at a time, but later in SoD Waylaid Supplies farms became viable as the limit was increased to 12.
By grinding out areas with lots of mobs and little competition, players will not only get all Waylaid Supplies that drop from enemies, but also all Waylaid Supplies that drop from chests – without having to roll. Grinding out Dungeons is not a bad alternative if you play a class that can’t solo farm effectively. But if you just need a few more to get over the next Reputation hump, you might be surprised by how useful the Item Restoration service can be.
Grind Dungeons While Leveling
Though you’re able to earn the most rewarding Waylaid Suppliesat max level in SoD, lower-tier Waylaid Supplies can help make a significant dent in – if not outright get you through – the Friendly rep grind. Because just about every mob in the game has a chance to drop Waylaid Supplies, and because Dungeons have such a high density of enemies, Waylaid Supplies regularly drop at least once during most Dungeon runs.
It’s a good idea to rotate in Dungeons while leveling forhuge XP gains thanks to Dungeon quests, as well as the higher-than-average-level Gear they offer.
Though you will have to share any that drop with your group mates, the XP and items acquired from Dungeons make runs worth it in other ways. Even at max level, some dungeons offer pre-BIS items, and getting some Waylaid Supplies while you farm these items isn’t a bad way to spend time.Blackfathom Deeps, and eventuallyGnomereganin future Phases, will be great places to farm Waylaid Supplies as level-up Raids with lots of mobs and bosses.
Camp Spawns Near Capitol Cities
In Dungeon groups, you will have to roll on any Waylaid Supplies that drop, and it’s entirely possible to lose every roll and come away from several runs with nothing to show for it. A more consistent, but more difficult, way to get Waylaid Supplies in SoD is to camp an open-world spawn area not too far from a nearby Capital City.
Though you will have to beat groups of enemies on your own, you won’t have to compete with anyone else when the Waylaid Supplies eventually drops. Depending on the spawn rate of the area you camp, and how many Treasure Chests you open while camping, it’s relatively common to see a Waylaid Supplies drop about once every 20 minutes.
Open Chests (While Completing Quests)
Though there isn’t any official statement that confirms it, it appears that Waylaid Supplies have a much higher chance to drop from Treasure Chests found out in the open world than any other source. Treasure Chests spawn at regular intervals at standardized locations, which are well-documented for every zone and instance. You can even get addons that show exactly where Treasure Chests can spawn in the world.
While leveling up, orcompleting quests at Max Levelto earn Gold, keep an eye out for Treasure Chests that spawn in encampments, next to fire pits, in the corners of dark caves, and in the off-rooms of strongholds and forts. If you would prefer to avoid questing and stick with a single mob spawn location, make sure it’s one that both has a high spawn rate for mobs and a regular Treasure Chest spawn location for the best chance to get Waylaid Supplies.
Check Your Item Restoration Page
Though not technically a Waylaid Supplies farming method, many players may be surprised to know just how effective it is to use the Item Restoration service to get Waylaid Supplies. Before the update rolled out that multiplied Waylaid Supplies rewards enormously, you could only get one at a time, and they didn’t reward enough to justify taking up an inventory slot. So, many just deleted them instead.
Now that you may collect multiple SoD Waylaid Supplies at a time, and they reward significantly more, these deleted Waylaid Supplies can still go towards building rep with each factions' new vendors. Blizzard offers an official Item Restoration forWoW, including SoD. Log into your account, select the character (and Realm) you want to Restore items for, and look through your recently sold and trashed items for Waylaid Supplies.
Once you confirm your choices, they will instantly be sent to you in-game with a CoD amount equal to the combined vendor price of the items. Pay the CoD to receive your items.
You can restore as many items as you like at once, but this process can only be completed once each week. The first time you check, as long as it hasn’t been months since you got rid of them, it’s likely there will be a lot of Waylaid Supplies waiting to be restored and filled.
