Xbox Game Pass – Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins, as well asFor Honor: Marching Edition, are the two of the knownUbisoft games hitting Xbox Game Pass in June 2022. As many may know,Originsis the first game where Ubisoft moved away from the classic action-adventure style of the older games and began moving into the open-world RPG system.Originsset the foundation on whichOdysseyandValhalla werebuilt, but there are some major differences, of course.

Originshas much more of a genuineAssassin’s CreedstorythanOdysseyand more so thanValhalla, but its open-world and RPG elements are a little “less” than these other two. In contrast, the parkour ofAssassin’s Creed Originsis arguably better than the latter two, and it does feel very much like a midway point between the two styles.

Originstells the story of how theHidden Ones, predecessors of the Assassins, came to be through a personal revenge arc that grows into something greater. It’s certainly an origin story, combined with RPG combat and level-up systems, more classic approaches to assassinations, and a generally unique aesthetic compared to the rest of the franchise.

Xbox Game Pass – Chorus

InChorus, players take on the role of Nara as she seeks to destroy the cult that created her. Nara and her sentient starfighter Forsaken come together to create a living weapon in a space-combat shooter, where there are powerful weapons and several telekinetic abilities like extrasensory perception, teleportation, and telekinesis.Chorusfocuses on space explorationcombined with fast-paced action.

Chorusalso boasts 4K next-gen sci-fi visuals, a mysterious and dark universe, tons of enemy starfighters, battleships, and void entities, and more all packed into a compelling space shooter.

Xbox Game Pass – Disc Room

Disc Roommay not be for everyone, but it’s a game that can become addicting. In essence, players take on the role of a scientist as they enter a giant disc-shaped ship that’s filled with rooms full of dangerous, saw-like murdering discs. It’s essentially a puzzle game,a roguelike game, and a bullet-hell style game all in one. Except to dodge death, players must dodge dangerous discs.

The unique art style helps bring it to life, as well as tight controls and strong accompanying music. Progression is easy enough, but the game has been criticized in terms of story, ability depth, and randomness of some levels—still, for someone looking for a fun, addicting challenge,Disc Roomoffers that in spades.

Xbox Game Pass – Spacelines from the Far Out

Spacelines from the Far Outis a unique game, perhaps best described as anairline simulation game that meetsMoving Outin several ways. Developer Coffeenauts describes it as a ‘roguelike-like co-op management game’ where players must manage airlines in space. It features a unique aesthetic, combining space-age flair with a nice ‘60s touch. As players progress throughout the game, they will unlock new spaceships, upgrades, characters, customization options, trips, unique itineraries, and randomly-generated challenges.

It seems two flights inSpacelines from the Far Outwill never be the same thanks to two primary mechanics: the trip generator andthe game director AI. The former ensures that each trip features unique routes, destinations, hazards, emergencies, and passenger events (of whom have their own AI and can lead to a ton of issues, including inspectors), while the latter ensures that everything is performed dynamic, including shifting from single-player to multiplayer.
