Microsoft confirms that Xbox Series X players will be able to use quick resume to get into games after a system update. Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed anXbox Series X feature called quick resumethis week, saying that it will allow players to easily jump back into games right where they left them.

In a new podcast, Xbox Live boss Larry Hryb and the head of Xbox program management Jason Ronald revealed more information about theXbox Series Xand how its features work. Hryb said that he had had to reboot his Xbox Series X to do a system update but quick resume “survives a reboot” and so allowed him to get right back to playing his game. Ronald said that after playing on Xbox Series X and using features like quick resume “it’s almost difficult to even go back to the old way of playing games.”

Quick resume is a feature powered by the Xbox Series X SSD. TheSSD will also help to “eliminate” game loading times, Ronald has said, as Xbox aims to give developers the tools to make better and bigger games without worrying about turning players away because they keep having to watch loading screens.

Microsoft hasn’t saidhow big the Xbox Series X SSD will be, but fans are hoping that it will offer a huge amount of room. One of the biggest frustrations with this generation of consoles is that players often find themselves having to delete games to make room for newer games and updates. While many gamers have games that they don’t play and so are the first to get deleted, this many years after release, it is becoming more difficult to find the space.

The plan for the Xbox Series X seems to be to make it as easy for gamers to find something to play as possible. This is likely why another Xbox Series X feature, called smart delivery, has been created. Thesmart delivery feature will be used by games likeCyberpunk 2077to allow players to enjoy a game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X after buying it once. This could save some gamers money and allow them to take the games that they love to the Xbox Series X which could have a huge effect on its sales.
