The Legend of Zeldaseries was not traditionally known for crafting untilThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Thanks to Link’s new Fuse ability and the overabundance of items, crafting new weapons in the game can seem practically endless. However, not all items are easy to obtain, and that’s where Nintendo Switch’s News Channel comes in. Each time a new software update occurs for the game, the Nintendo Switch’s News Channel gives out free in-game items. For the first software update, the channel gave out a free Hylian Shroom and a Solider’s Broadsword, and for the second, players could receive two Dazzlefruits.

Now that the1.2.0 update has been released forZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo Switch’s News Channel is giving out a Lizalfos Tail and a Traveler’s Sword. Players of the game can fuse these two items together to create a makeshift whip weapon. Usually, to find a Traveler’s Sword that’s not corrupted by malice, the player will have to travel down to the depths of Hyrule. To find a Lizalfos Tail, players would usually have to defeat one of the regular green Lizalfos, usually found around areas with water. Lizalfos Tails also have a low drop rate, as players will more often only receive talons and horns after defeating a Lizalfos.
To receive thesefree items inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players will have to click on the News icon on the Switch Home Menu, then scroll to the “Whip Enemies into Shape” story. When the story opens, players will need to click the “Play Now” button, then boot up their copy ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players will then receive a Lizalfos Tail and a Traveler’s Sword for free. It’s also worth noting that players must have the 1.2.0 update downloaded for the free items to appear.
Lizalfos Tails are somewhat tricky to find due to the low drop rates. If players are looking to create more whip-like weapons, Lizalfos Tails can also be purchased inTears of the Kingdomat the Kara Kara Bazaarfor 72 rupees each.
